Dave Young Kim

Dave Young Kim (김재권) is a Korean American fine artist and activist who engages deeply with communities to create art that uplifts the marginalized and disenfanchised.  His large-scale narrative works represent the cultural and natural histories.

Kim was born and raised in Los Angeles where he began as a graffiti artist.  He received a BFA from UC Davis under the tutelage of Wayne Thiebaud and subsequently studied at the Chelsea School of Art and Design in London before receiving his MFA at Mills College where he worked closely with Hung Liu.  Kim is a recipient of the 2015 APA Heritage Award and the 2023 Abbey Mural Prize.  His public artworks may be seen in across the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, and in Korea.
